AE Connect Light Interface Units (LIU) are extensively applicable in wired communication networks. These LIUs are used for routing, terminating, and managing optical cable terminations and can be wall-mounted or rack-mounted for ease of use.

OM1 and OM2 are widely employed for short-haul networks, local area networks (LANs) and private networks. OM3 is applied to a larger private networks. Different from the previous multimode types, OM4 is more advanced to be used for high-speed networks in data centers, financial centers and corporate campuses.

OM2 multimode enhanced pigtails are used to connect high speed networks like gigabit ethernet, fast ethernet and ethernet. The multimode pigtail buffer conforms to IEC, EIA TIA or Telcordia standards. The multimode pigtails are terminated with optimized connector which gives optimum optical performance.

OM1 fiber typically comes with an orange jacket and have a core size of 62.5 µm. It can support 10 Gigabit Ethernet at lengths of up to 33 meters. It is most commonly used for 100 Megabit Ethernet applications. This type commonly uses a LED light source

Multimode OM4 fiber was developed specifically for VSCEL laser transmission and allows 10 Gig / second link distances of up to 550 Meters (compared to 300M with OM3). The effective modal bandwidth for OM4 fiber is more than double that of OM3 (4700 MHz.km for OM4 v/s 2000 MHz.km for OM3).

The LIU (optical fiber interconnecting unit) is modular and suitable for optical cable installation, bare fibers splicing & protection, pigtails storage & management. This unit is a compact housing allowing both splicing and connecting fiber optic cables. It can splice and terminate 12/24 fibers using 6-fiber panels. Convenient wall-mount design for use in almost any location. Accommodates up to 24 ports.
